You know, babies are fun to watch they make you wonder why they do things. Sometimes I wonder why a baby winks one eye at you, and then grins wildly, I’d be wondering. Sometimes I play along, lol. It’s just kinda surprising why they do some things. All the same, they are babies and are greatly loved by us, their mothers.

In this write-up, I thought you should know 20 facts you should know before you rush into any conclusions about your baby.
- Babies don’t wait until they are outside the womb to begin sucking their thumb.

This upsets some mothers and for some mothers, it’s not a big deal. It is up to you to train your child in time if you don’t like that.
- Babies are born without knee caps. Be careful about how you handle them.
- A child doesn’t grow while he has a common cold. One very important duty of a mother is to keep her child well protected, note that a baby requires more heat. Though, not to choke the baby. Just to keep the baby well protected to prevent the cold breeze into it’s body.
- Babies are born with very poor vision but can recognize their mothers almost right away. This is expected to happen as the child looks up when it’s breastfed, it’s emotional.
- The average child will eat 15lbs of cereal in a year. This is up to the mother in my own judgment.
- Reading to your child at any age will increase their knowledge. One things I feel mothers should understand is that training begins from the womb, discipline, emotions and even choices begin from pregnancy. Try to teach your baby very early, because as they grow it becomes a part of them.
- Children laugh on average 300 times a day, adults only 60. Yeah, cos adults got a lot of thinking and worries(lol) but a kid’s heart is so worry-free and tends to believe everything is possible.
- Until the age of six or seven months, a child can breathe and swallow at the same time. –
and 75% of adults reading this will try to do it!. This is actually hilarious because you did it but if you did not, I bet you’re some kind of tough…..😕
- Babies don’t suffer from bad breath because they have no teeth. Expect no smell! Stay doubt free because “lo and behold” it won’t smell. The teeth collect bacteria which makes breath smell. Now I want to remove my teeth (lol)
- Most babies recognize their mothers’ voices when they are born, but take around 14 days
to learn to recognize their father’s voice. I’m extremely glad to know that, at least I expected that and now, justice is served. (My bad, I love kidding around)
- Young babies don’t sweat because their sweat glands are not fully developed. So do not panic about heat. It is needed and healthy for them.
- Eating fish during pregnancy can boost your baby’s brain power, a study of 7,000
mothers found. I thought I should drop this, the symptoms of pregnancy differs and for some they can be cravings and for some loss of appetite at the sight of food like a sister of mine. She barely ate and I was sick of giving lectures. But fish is a very great diet for you and your baby.
- Babies like high-pitched singing voices. Baby: Hey mommy, can you hire a proficient treble opera singer for me? (Cute face). Mom: yeah baby, anything for you. Me: Sing momma! Sing! I paid you for it. (Lol) On a more serious note, if you’re not a singing mom, get songs for your baby or take singing classes. It calms and excites babies.
- A baby’s strongest sense is the smell and they can recognize their mothers by scent alone. This is heroic of you babies. Take all the credit.
- Babies learn sign language before they can talk. This includes hugging, waving, kisses and likes. Train them with these too.
- Most newborns cry without tears until they are three to six weeks old. Do not bother or panic, it is usual.
- Sometimes infant stops breathing. This is normal if it lasts for 5 to 10 seconds but if it’s longer then it’s an emergency. Get to a hospital as quick as possible.
- Newborns are more likely to turn their head to the right than to the left. Majority of newborns do this except those that might be left-handed.
- A newborn urinates about every 20 minutes and then roughly every hour at 6 months. As the estimated use of diapers is over 3000 a year per baby, this could overwhelming, but “Be prepared” (handy man’s code.)
- Babies are sleepy all the time. They tend to stay awake for about 3 minutes each hour of the day but less at night. Mothers in the house, any controversy? But it’s all love.
Here are the 20 facts I promised to deliver. I hope you had a wonderful time. See you soon.
